Besra Gold Inc is a Canadian registered company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX: BEZ) in October 2021.
Besra Gold is solely focused on exploration and development of its Bau Goldfield interests in the State of Sarawak, Malaysia. Besra, together with its antecedents, have explored this area for nearly 20 years. Since 2006 over US$40 million has been expended on exploration resulting in over 250,000 m of drilling comprehensive geophysical and geochemical data sets and detailed metallurgical, processing and related studies.
Today it books a total JORC 2012 compliant Resource Inventory of ~3 million ounces of gold, positioning it well within the top-quartile for junior ASX listed explorers. Some 80% of this gold Resource occurs within 80-100m of the surface and together with a further 4.9 – 9.3 Moz Exploration Target the Bau Goldfield corridor is predicted to become a major Asian gold deposit. Besra holds a 97.8% interest in Bau (92.8% equity adjusted interest).
Since listing in 2021 Besra has confirmed the stand-alone potential of its most mature project, Jugan, with 991k ounces @1.6 g/t Measured & Indicated and 1,989k ounces @ 1.3 g/t Inferred, mineralisation extending from the surface.
EIA approval for a pilot plant at Jugan to optimise production of a concentrate from the refractory gold is expected shortly with plans for construction and commissioning during 2023.
During 2022 Quantum Metal Recovery, became the largest shareholder in Besra (~30%). Quantum’s principals are strongly connected to Sarawak and intend to provide drawn-down facility to fund future commercialisation of Jugan as part of moving upstream from their current bullion sales activities (through Quantum Metal Exchange Inc OTC - QMEI ) specialising in Shariah Law compliant gold licence and practices through its extensive Muslim data base.
With this new shareholder support, Besra will be well funded to fast-track pilot plant testing, design and construction of a commercial gold concentrate facility at Jugan in parallel with its ESG initiatives, including novel approaches for building a trustworthy social licence of co-existence within the communities sharing its operations.
