Essential to this change is the metal lithium, which is fundamental for the production of batteries for grid scale energy storage, and for powering zero-emission electric vehicles.
Electric vehicles will play a fundamental part in the effort to reduce carbon. This means that the demand for EV batteries will increase. The UK and EU markets alone will require over 800,000 tonnes of refined lithium a year. But there is currently no large-scale lithium refining capability in either the UK or the EU.
Green Lithium, working closely with its partners, is well on the way to building the UK's first large-scale replicable lithium refining and recycling plant.
