John Walker is Director of Battery Material Recycling and Refineries for UK-based clean technology group Altilium.
With over 30 years’ experience in the battery raw materials and mining industries, John joined Altilium in 2023 to oversee the establishment of its EV battery recycling plants, including its planned Teesside recycling refinery, which will produce over 30,000 MT of Cathode Active Material (CAM) per year.
John was most recently CEO of Tees Valley Lithium, Europe’s first independent lithium chemical processing hub, and previously served as Chairman of Exawatt, a provider of strategic consulting services to the battery industry. He has also served as strategic advisor to Piedmont Lithium in the US and Cornwall-based British Lithium.
John started his career at mining giant Imerys in Cornwall in 1990, before moving to the US and taking charge of Imerys North American Ceramics. In 2011, he joined mining and processing company The Quartz Corp (TQC), where he led the implementation of a significant expansion of the company’s production capacity and was subsequently appointed chief executive.
