Mr. Lewis holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University and completed pre-engineering in Mining Engineering at the University of Alabama. He also received U.S. Naval Education Certifications in Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Power, Radiological Controls and Lab Engineering.
Mr. Lewis has a broad base of experience in management of large-scale, multi-billion dollar military operations, construction / engineering projects and industrial plants. His skill sets are critical to successful execution of complex projects, where complications in interdependent scheduling and deployment of high-dollar-value budgets for materials, skilled / unskilled workers, equipment, etc., can result in major schedule delays and heavy economic losses.
Following Ron's key role in managing the operation of twenty-six (26) power plants for Southern Company (the 2nd largest U.S. power company), Southern Company's President & CEO, Thomas Fanning, approved Mr. Lewis to oversee construction of its new $6 billion, 830 MW Kemper power plant (the largest industrial construction project in North American at the time). KBR, a multi-billion U.S. engineering / construction firm, was awarded the Kemper Plant construction contract, and Mr. Fanning assigned Mr. Lewis the title of "Senior Engineer, System Owner," and KBR reported directly to Mr. Lewis. In this capacity, Mr. Lewis managed a construction budget of $6+ billion USD; 6,000+ technical personnel and skilled / unskilled laborers, coordinated efforts between Federal, State and local government agencies, and managed all regulatory compliance in accordance with construction safety and environmental guidelines.
